PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner preventing blowing up of dust on a floor face when a vacuum cleaner body is lifted by exhaust pressure of a motor-fan, and capable of stably lifting it even when the floor face is a carpet. SOLUTION: A pressure equalizing chamber having an exhaust opening is provided in a lower part of the vacuum cleaner body, a skirt is provided so as to surround a lower face of the pressure equalizing chamber including the exhaust opening, an exhaust passage with one end communicating with the pressure equalizing chamber and an exhaust passage with one end communicating with a skirt inner side are respectively provided, and the two exhaust passages can be selectively opened and closed by detecting a pressure of the skirt inner side.
