EAS SYSTEM EMPLOYING CENTRAL AND LOCAL STATIONS WITH SHARED FUNCTIONS

An EAS system (1) employing a central station (6) having a central processin g unit (7) and a local station (8) having a microcontroller (9) and in which t he functions necessary for detecting the EAS tag (5) signals and generating alarms (13) are shared by the central station and the local station. A switc h (14A-14D) is further provided at the local station for automatically reconfiguring the receiver antennas (3A-3H) based on antenna configuration instructions generated at the central station responsive to certain conditio ns at the location (2) being monitored.
