PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shower flow coating apparatus capable of forming a uniform coating film even in such a case that a thin coating film is formed on an article to be coated having a complicated three-dimensional shape, excellent in the recyclability of a coating and extremely reduced in the load to the environment, and a coating method using the same. SOLUTION: The shower flow coating apparatus is equipped with a coating storage tank storing a certain amount of the coating and dropping the coating from a dropping holes formed to the bottom surface of the tank to coat the substrate arranged under the dropping holes with the paint, a coating supply means for continuously supplying the coating to the coating storage tank and a coating recovery tank for receiving the coating overflowing from the coating storage tank. One or more coating recovery ports are provided at a height of 1-20 cm from the bottom surface of the coating storage tank and the dropping holes have a hole diameter of 0.5-5 mm and are formed in a ratio of 0.05-2.0 per 1 cm<2> of the bottom surface. The coating film having uniform thickness and excellent in appearance can be formed by this shower flow coating apparatus. Further, the shower flow coating apparatus is excellent in the recyclability of the coating and good in coating efficiency and productivity and can reduce the load to the environment.
