PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an equipment and a method for continuously annealing and pickling stainless steel plates in which stainless steel plates in an extensive thickness range can be manufactured in a short manufacturing period while ensuring high productivity and high yield. SOLUTION: The equipment for continuously annealing and pickling the stainless steel plates comprises a rolling mill for reducing the thickness of an annealed and descaled strip, a furnace unit for annealing the strip of the reduced thickness passing through the rolling mill and a pickling unit for removing scales on a surface of the strip annealed in the furnace unit, and a versatile rolling mill which can perform the cold rolling or the skin pass rolling of the pickled strip by one same rolling mill.
