PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer for fixing an atlantoaxial vertebra capable of surely maintain a reduced position in atlantoaxial vertebra backward fixing. SOLUTION: The spacer 1 for fixing the atlantoaxial vertebra is mounted at a rear central part of an atlanto vertebra and an axial vertebra in an atantoaxial vertebra backward fixing plasty. The spacer 1 comprises a base 2, a pair of right and left legs 3a and 3b protruding down from the base 2, an inserting section 4 protruding forward from the base 2, and a contact section 5 protruding upward from the base 2. This spacer 1 is mounted in a state in which a dens of the axial vertebra is inserted between the legs 3a and 3b, the section 4 is inserted between atlanto vertebra rear arch and the axial vertebra arch, and a rear surface of the atlanto vertebra rear arch is brought into contact with the contact surface 51. The section 4 is formed in a thickness capable of obtaining a suitable cervical vertebrae alignment. A front end 41 of the section 4 is curved so that a central part is recessed. The surface 51 is formed in a curved recess surface in which center is recessed.
