PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of producing a fluorine-containing alcohol compound over a prolonged time in a high yield under relatively mild reaction conditions without using a special reagent or solvent. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the fluorine-containing alcohol compound, water and a halogenated fluorine compound are reacted with each other in the presence of a catalyst for production of the fluorine-containing alcohol compound obtained by carrying at least one of the amine complexes of elements belonging to the group IB, IIB, VIA, VIIA or VIII of the Periodic Table on at least one composite oxide selected from Si-Al, Al-P and Si-Al-P composite oxides.
