PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a futon abound in bulkiness and high in a heat insulating and humidifying effect, and its suitable manufacturing method. SOLUTION: Pieces of wadding 4 are laid on cloths 1A so their circumferential rim parts overlap, a thin protective sheet 5 such as of polyethylene is laid thereon, and hexagonal areas 3 where each wadding 4 is individually held by a cloth strip 2A are formed while facedly attaching side rim parts of the cloth strips 2A to the cloths 1A from above the protective sheet 5 along the circumferential rim parts of each wadding 4. After the protective sheet 5 is cut away, the cloth strips 2A and 2B forming the areas 3 mutually corresponding to the cloths 1A and 1B are sewn, and then circumferential rims of the cloths 1A and 1B are sewn. By such a futon, since the circumferential rim parts of each wadding is fixed to the cloth strips 2 comprising partition walls of the areas 3 while each wadding 4 is individually held in each area 3, each wadding 4 retains superior bulkiness, the heat insulating and humidifying effect is high even with light weight, and the futon provides comfortable sleep as a coverlet or the like.
