PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a side surface of a base plate and a work material are frequently rubbed with each other in the case where a work is carried out by deeply cutting-in as in the case of cutting a stone material and a building among cutting by a diamond cutter and to reduce the rubbing of the material to be cut and the base plate generated at the time of deep cutting-in while rigidity enough not to generate a deflection during working is imparted to the base plate by providing donut-like shallow grooves on both surfaces of the base plate of the diamond cutter, respectively. SOLUTION: The donut-like shallow grooves 4 of which an outer periphery is contacted with a chip 3 joint part or the vicinity thereof are provided on both surfaces of the base plate of the diamond cutter concentrically to the base plate.
