PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant cultivator for searching an optimum cultivation environment for plants, using LEDs as a light source and a control system therefor. SOLUTION: In this plant cultivator, a door 8 is provided in a suitable face of a cabinet 2 surrounded by insulating walls and an illumination window 6 is provided in the upper face 5a or a suitable side face and an LED illumination element 16 is arranged in the illumination window 6 and an LED control means that controls the illumination element 16 is provided in a suitable side face of the cabinet 2 or the vicinity of the illumination element 16, and the cabinet 2 comprises at least some of a growth detection sensor that detects the state of plant growth, cultivation environment monitoring means that monitors the cultivation environment around the plants and a cultivation environment generating means that generates the cultivation environment, and further comprises cultivation environment control means that is provided at an appropriate location for controlling the cultivation environment generating means in accordance with information from the cultivation environment monitoring means.
