PURPOSE: A lifetime number system having a privacy protecting function is provided to construct a service DB for individually restricting various calls for received telephone numbers by a subscriber receiving a lifetime number service, and to substitute a caller ID of the subscriber with a lifetime number, thereby protecting privacy. CONSTITUTION: If a receiving number is a lifetime number, exchanges(20,40,60) take out call restriction settings of a caller, a lifetime number of the caller, and a substantial telephone number of a receiver from a service DB(35), and restrict calls or convert a call to exchange stations, then transmit a caller ID composed of the lifetime number to the exchange stations. The service DB(35) defines settings of the called party by a lifetime number subscriber. A service server(30) supplies a user interface for changing the call restriction settings of the service DB(35), and sets call restrictions in the service DB(35) through the user interface. An ARS server(60) receives a voice message of the call-restricted caller, and stores the message.
