PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for providing pay contents for a lodging house using an MPEG player and a contents paying device are provided to enjoy specific TV broadcasting programs without a receiver in the lodging house. CONSTITUTION: An MPEG encoder(100) stores, edits, and encodes a manufactured broadcasting program for transmitting video and audio. An MPEG player(120) decodes the received data and modulates channels, and distributes the video and audio to a plurality of TV sets through a video distributer(130) of a lodging house to show contents. A contents paying device(140) controls to show the contents to specific persons, and displays control and figures of a view time to provide the contents in a payment type.
