OPTICAL MOUSE HAVING DYNAMIC RANGE

PURPOSE: An optical mouse having a dynamic range is provided to create a resolving power with respect to a low illumination range or a tiny illumination range relatively and to improve a sensing performance with respect to a tiny signal variation by adjusting an input range of an A/D converter based on a size variation width according to an output signal of the A/D converter. CONSTITUTION: An input range of an A/D converter(34) is adjusted in accordance with an input range control signal(SC). The A/D converter(34) receives an input signal(S11) through an adjusted input range and converts the input signal into data of a digital format. An image data processing unit(35) discriminates a data distribution based on image data(S13) being inputted from the A/D converter(34). If the data distribution is generated, the image data processing unit(35) supplies an input range control signal(SC) corresponded to a level and a range of the generated data distribution. The image data processing unit(35) processes the image data from the A/D converter(34) into motion data.
