An animal-trap (1), especially suited to smaller animals which live underground, and involving two spring action pincers (2, 3) whose gripping ends (7, 8) and (9, 10) lie athwart each other so that they can simultaneously trap the animal, and whose activating ends, (11, 12) and (13, 14), are mutually connected via a jointed activating mechanism (19), which can be turned past a ridge point to a position of tension on the trap where the pincers are open.An activation bolt (23) is arranged between the pincers (2, 3), whose upper ends (24) are connected to the activating mechanism (19), and whose lower ends (25) extend down to the area between the opposite facing gripping ends -(7, 8) and (9, 10).The trap is set, after its gripping ends are placed down into the ground. When the animal enters the space between the open pincer ends, it pushes against the activation bolt and the trap snaps into position around the animal.<IMAGE>
