PURPOSE: A vertical ascending water gate is provided to discharge water by opening a water gate automatically by water pressure if a dam is fully filled with the stored water, and to discharge water by lifting up a water gate compulsively by a cylinder if a dam is not filled with the stored water. CONSTITUTION: The vertical ascending water gate comprises a water gate(8) installed between dams(4) installed on a channel to intercept water and to store water, an ascending projection(12) formed on the upper side of the water gate(8) and extended/projected to the top of the dam(4), a vertical lifting device attached to the top of the dam(4) to lift up the ascending projection(12) vertically and compulsively from the upper side of the water gate(8), and a controller controlling the vertical lifting device.
