PURPOSE: A method for transmitting a file in a mobile communication system is provided to download files at the low cost when the performance of network resources is inactive, so as to download high capacity files quickly. CONSTITUTION: If downloading of an optional multimedia file is requested from a mobile terminal(S1), an information management database checks whether a user desires to transmit the file in a real time through the mobile terminal(S2). If real-time transmission is requested from the mobile terminal user, downloading is started(S5). If the mobile terminal user does not request real-time transmission, the input of download conditions is requested(S3), and the download conditions are stored in the information management database. The information management database accesses a contents database if the set conditions are met(S4). The information management database transmits multimedia data requested by the mobile terminal user to the mobile terminal through an MSC(Mobile Switching Center) and a BTS(Base Transceiver Subsystem)(S5). And the mobile terminal accesses the contents database over the wireless Internet, to receive the downloaded multimedia data(S6).
