PURPOSE: A method for displaying an image of a plasma display panel and an apparatus thereof are provided, which reduces flicker and false contour noise by diffusing a sub field using a diffusion filter using human visual characteristics. CONSTITUTION: An image of each field displayed on a plasma display panel in correspondence to a 50Hz input image signal is divided into a plurality of sub fields having different weight respectively, and gray level is displayed by assembling weights of the above sub fields. Original gray level is generated on the basis of the input image signal, and a diffusion filter value is determined on the basis of the input image signal. Then, final gray level is generated by applying the diffusion filter value to the original gray level. Gray level data corresponding to the final gray level is generated, and an image is displayed on the plasma display panel according to the gray level data. |
