PURPOSE: A composition containing an extract of Adenophorae Radix which has no adverse effect, is easily available and inexpensive and has an effect on suppressing obesity and increasing stamina is provided which has an effect on prevention of generation of diabetes, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, heart disease, cholelithiasis, gout, kidney disease, etc. CONSTITUTION: Adenophorae Radix is extracted while providing an ultrasonic wave and vacuum impact thereto. The composition for suppressing obesity and increasing stamina contains 0.01 to 90% by weight of the Adenophorae Radix extract and is formulated into a drug, a medicinal additive, a functional heath food, a food, a food additive, a beverage or a beverage additive. For an example, Adenophorae Radix powder is mixed 10 times with purified water, extracted at about 20deg.C for 5 days, filtered with a filter cloth of 300 meshes, left alone at 10deg.C for 10 days and concentrated at 60deg.C under reduced pressure after ageing at low temperature.
