PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling an electric mobile rack are provided to easily search stored articles(documents, books, articles and the like) in a plurality of racks, ensure the confidentiality of the articles and prevent safety accidents. CONSTITUTION: A personal computer(300) remotely controls the overall operation of an electric mobile rack(100), displays the list of articles stored in a plurality of mobile racks(112-110+N) on a screen by searching a built-in memory and modifies/deletes/adds the list of the articles to store in the memory. In case of direct control type, a touch panel(130) inputs a control command of a user and displays the list of the stored articles on the screen. In case of remote control type, a main controller(150) interfaces with data by the communication with the personal computer and controls the movement(open and close) of a specific mobile rack according to a control signal provided remotely by the personal computer.
