PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized connector. SOLUTION: A partition wall 22 to partition an upper cavity from a lower cavity and the bottom wall 23 of a housing 20 are notched to form a lance 31 to be engaged with a metal piece as terminal to be inserted into the cavities, a space 34 to admit a deflection of the lance 31 downward, and a deflection restricting part 39 to restrict an excessive deflection of the lance 31. The lance 31 has a two-side supported arm 32, and at each side edge of the arm 32 lower part, a slope 38 is formed in a position recessed upward from the bottom surface 41 of the arm 32. The restriction part 39 has an inclined receptacle surface 40 arranged confronting the slope 38, having the same gradient as the slope 38, and capable of being engaged with the slope 38 at the stage before the deflection of the arm 32 goes beyond its elastic limit. The part 39 is installed in a position overlapping in the height direction on that portion of the space 34 which admits runoff of the bottom surface 41 of the arm 32.
