PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic thin film EL element showing excellent light emission characteristics and having excellent durability using a high polymer material. SOLUTION: This organic thin film EL element is provided with a light emitting layer composed of at least one layer of an organic compound thin film between opposing anode and cathode. At least one layer among the light emitting layers has electric charge transport performance expressed by the formula (1) as a constituent component and contains aromatic polycarbonate resin having excellent resistance against heat. This organic thin film EL element shows excellent light emission characteristics and durability by use of this resin. Wherein, Ar1 , Ar2 , Ar4 , and Ar5 are each substituted or non-substituted allylene groups, Ar3 is substituted or non-substituted allyl group, Z represents allylene group or -Ar6 -Za-Ar6 -, Ar6 represents substituted or non-substituted allylene group, Za represents single bond, O, S or alkylene group, and R and R' represent straight chain or branched chain alkylene group. n denotes 0 or 1.
