PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery requiring a shorter charge time. SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode and an electrolyte, the negative electrode having a negative electrode material layer containing a negative electrode active material laminated on a collector. The negative electrode material layer is divided into halves in the direction of its thickness, a negative electrode material layer A1 on the collector side and a negative electrode material layer A2 opposite the collector side, the former having an average percentage of voids greater than the latter.
