PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single board type color camera that obtains a luminance signal and a chrominance signal with high resolution. SOLUTION: The image pickup device with conversion elements arranged in row and column directions to which color filters are arranged in a checkered pattern, includes a read means that reads signal electric charges of each conversion element for one field period and one frame period, a classification means that classifies the read signal electric charges into signal electric charges by each color filter and an output means that outputs the classified signal electric charges in an interlace scanning timing.
