PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device of high light emitting efficiency which can sufficiently improve the light take-out efficiency without generating blurs or the like of the image. SOLUTION: In the organic EL device 1, an organic EL element holding at least a light emitting layer by a pair of electrodes is formed on a composite substrate comprising a single crystal silicon substrate, and a support substrate of a glass, a quartz or the like which are affixed to each other. An adhesive layer 3 for affixing the single crystal silicon layer 4 to the support substrate 2 is formed of a material having the index of refraction lower than that of the support substrate 2, for example, silica aerogel.
