PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide radio equipment with very high convenience capable of automatically performing communication corresponding to a communication mode (there are a mode for transmitting and receiving only voice data and a mode for transmitting and receiving image data and the voice data in the communication mode) of the opposite station. SOLUTION: This radio equipment is provided with a state detection controlling part 5 for detecting communication modes of a self-station and the opposite station and also controlling a signal processing part, and an image outputting part 1 and a voice outputting part 2 are connected to each other and are also connected to a transmitting and receiving part 3. The state detection controlling part 5 detects information showing the communication mode of the opposite station attached to reception data received by the transmitting and receiving part 3, and an encoding operation of a signal processing part is controlled so as to meet the communication mode of the opposite station to switch communication modes of the self-station.
