PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the capacity of a memory and to shorten the processing time with respect to a method or a device for automatic musical composition. SOLUTION: The device for automatic musical composition is provided with a template database 15a in which a plurality of templates each of which consists of a plurality of data for automatic musical composition are stored and an accompaniment database 15b in which a plurality of accompaniment data representative of a plurality of accompaniment sound strings previously generated correspondingly to the templates respectively are stored. When a user selects one template, a melody data generation block U13 uses the selected template to automatically generate melody data representative of a melody sound string. An accompaniment data read part U14 reads out accompaniment data corresponding to the selected template from the accompaniment database 15b, and an output part U15 outputs the automatically generated melody data and the accompaniment data together. |
