PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can sufficiently detect the residual amount of a developer in a developer housing part, reduce the cost of a developer housing part even when the housing part is a cartridge replaced frequently, and significantly reduce running cost. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 which includes a developing unit 115, a developer housing part 3 which has an inside communicated to the developing unit 115 and houses the developer to be fed to the developing unit 115, and is provided with a developing means 101 to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier 113, is further provided with detecting means 1 and 2 for detecting the residual amount of the developer in the developer housing part 3 except the developer housing part 3. |
