PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which can use a roller safely until it damages irrelevantly to the use state of an image forming device. SOLUTION: The fixing device which has a fixing sleeve and a pressure sleeve arranged rotatably while pressed again each other on their surfaces so that at least either one has a metal sleeve, having a heat source inside, covered with an elastic body and a temperature detecting device for detecting the surface temperatures of an area of the sleeve having the heat source that a transfer material comes into contact with and an area that it does not comes into contact with respectively and fuses and fixes a toner image formed on the transfer material by heating, sandwiching, and carrying it between the fixing sleeve and pressure sleeve, determines the life of the sleeves according to the sleeve surface temperatures detected by the temperature detecting device. |
