PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized image reader for a general purpose that can read a long sized original, instructs its division where the maximum width of paper is about the short side of an A3 original and to provide an image forming device that can provide division outputs. SOLUTION: The image reader 6 adopting a sheet through method is provided with a changeover means 127 that selects a first mode where a fixed size original is read or a second mode where a long sized original is read, with a preliminary scanning mode where preliminary scanning is applied to an image of an original and with an image display means 126 for including a split line display means that displays an image subjected to preliminary scanning and displays split lines (a), (b) to split the displayed image P according to a prescribed size. When the changeover means 127 selects the second mode, the preliminary scanning mode is selected, and the image display means 126 displays the image P subjected to the preliminary scanning in the preliminary scanning mode with the split lines (a), (b). |
