PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an improved iterative receiver for downlink of a coded CDMA (code division multiple access) system. SOLUTION: An interference suppressor (IS) interacts with a soft-input soft- output (SISO) decoder. Two schemes that are a concatenated scheme and a joint scheme are proposed. In the concatenated scheme, the interference suppressor provides the soft-input soft-output decoder with an estimate of user's symbols, and the decoder performs a number of iterations to find the maximum a posteriori sequence. The extrinsic information of this sequence is fed back to the interference suppressor, thus completing an interference suppression iteration. In the joint scheme, the interference suppressor provides the soft-in soft-output decoder, at each decoding iteration, with estimates of updated a priori probabilities (intrinsic information). The soft-in soft-out decoder after completing a new iteration feeds back the extrinsic information to the interference suppressor. |
