PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector capable of securing an engaging force of a retainer for a metal piece as terminal. SOLUTION: A projection 36 for engagement is provided protruding on the oversurface of the engagement part 35 of the retainer 30, in such an arrangement as capable of being accommodated in a space 15 formed in the metal piece 10 as terminal, which allows the projection 36 to intrude into a cavity 21 with a sufficient intruding height to lead to certain hindrance of the metal piece 10 from slipping off. The accommodation space 15 is formed in the coupling part 13 where there is no obstacle for intrusion of the projection 36 such as terminals of the mating party, electric wires, etc., which allows securing the intrusion depth of the projection 36. Further the protruding end 36A of the projection 36 is positioned nearer the intruding direction than a step 14 formed on the metal piece 10, and that edge of the engaging surface 37 which is positioned on the side with the protruding end 36A is chamfered 38. Accordingly it is possible to prevent the metal piece 10 from hitching at the time of drawing off while the engaging margin between the metal piece 10 and retainer 30 is well secured.
