The extinguisher (2), comprising a body (4) containing pressurised water (28) that is expelled through a tube (14) and nozzle (16), is filled through a tube attached to a self-closing coupling (20) in its head (6) without having to remove the head. The filling procedure can use the same tube that is used to spray the water during use, or a separate transparent plastic tube (24) that allows the end of filling to be seen by the emission of air bubbles from the extinguisher. The pressurised water is delivered from a tap or other equipment at a pressure of about 4 bars, and its pressure inside the extinguisher body is maintained by the air (26) existing in it.
