PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit device with an electromagnetic-wave shield by which the shielding effect of an electromagnetic-field noise is increased, and to provide an image reader using the circuit device. SOLUTION: A claw 33 which is formed at a shielding plate 31 composed of a conductive material comes into contact with a first pad 231 on a first grounding pattern 23 formed on a sensor substrate 21, so as to surround the outside of the sensor substrate 21. An arm 331 at the claw 33 comes into contact with the first pad 231, and the shielding plate 31 and the pattern 23 are electrically connected. Consequently, the shielding plate 31 used to shield the electromagnetic-field noise is grounded to the pattern 23 on the sensor substrate 21, and the shielding effect of the electromagnetic-field noise by the shielding plate 31 is increased.
