PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep a state wherein no foreign matter is sticking on the surface of a corona wire when the corona wire does not carry out corona discharging. SOLUTION: This corona discharger is equipped with a shield case 11, the corona wire 12 which is arranged in the shield case 21, and a wire protector 31 which surrounds the whole outer circumference of the corona wire 12 and is arranged to the overall length of the corona wire along the axis. The wire protector 31 is constituted by combining a plurality of cylinder bodies 32 and can extend and contract along the axis of the corona wire 12, the corona wire 12 is inserted into the tip of the wire protector 31, and a cleaning body 33 is fitted which cleans its outer circumferential surface in contact.
