PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which forms an image of high quality by preventing a carry-in gap variation in front of a rotational carrying-in entrance of a belt-shaped image carrier rotated and carried in a nip part of a transfer means even when a tension roller which applies tension to the belt- shaped image carrier is arranged at an upstream-side position in front of the carrying-in entrance of the belt-shaped image carrier rotated and carried in the nip part of the transfer means. SOLUTION: The device comprises the belt-shaped image carrier 1 which is suspended by a plurality of rollers and rotates carrying a formed toner image, a transfer means 3 which transfers the toner image formed on the belt-shaped image carrier 1 to a transferred body 2, and the tension roller 4 which is arranged on the belt-shaped image carrier 1 upstream in a rotation carrying-in direction (A) while suspending and maintaining the rotation carrying-in direction (A) of the belt-shaped image carrier 1 rotated and carried in the nip part (N) of the transfer means 3 in a fixed state.
