The chassis comprises two side frames between which extend transversely the front floor part, the rear floor part, a crosspiece (4) and crosspiece rigidifying means. The crosspiece upper longitudinal and lower edges are fixed respectively to the floor parts. The rigidifying means consist of a crosspiece (51) which extends under the lower longitudinal edge of the first crosspiece to which it is fixed and each of the ends (511,512) is fixed to one of the side frames.
