Process for the treatment of animal excrement, comprises mixing the excrement with 5-50 % calcium and magnesium oxides. Independent claims are also included for: (1) An installation for the treatment process, comprising: (a) a mixer in which the excrement and oxides are homogenized; (b) an aspirator to remove the ammonia liberated by the subsequent reaction; and (c) sprays of sulfuric or citric acid solutions to absorb this ammonia; and (2) Fertilizers in powdered form, free from larvae and stored to prevent further fermentation.
