The display mechanism has a display organ (3), e.g. a minutes hand, coupled to a normal display drive or to a differential wheel of a differential drive (4,400), for providing an alternate display modes, with a satellite carrier reset for setting the display organ to the alternate display. The coupling (2) between the display organ and the normal display drive allows automatic return of the display organ to its original position after temporary switching to the alternate display mode.
