PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable reproduction of ruggedness information of higher density, in an optical recording and reproducing device in which coherent light is con verged using a lens and emitted to a minute region of an optical recording medium. SOLUTION: Before a recording medium is irradiated with incident light, a distribution of polarized state is provided in the pupillary surface direction of the incident light. As a result, the pupillary surface distribution of the reproducing light which is caused by a light diffraction phenomenon by a guiding groove or pit is selectively separated for reproduction. |
