PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress expansion of a device without increasing the data amount of communication data to be recorded, and to distinguish whether communication data reproduced from a recording medium are originated from opposite terminal or from its own terminal in a communication data recording and reproducing device for recording and reproducing the communication data between terminals. SOLUTION: In the communication data recording and reproducing device, received first communication data and second communication data are added and compressed later, the number of samples at a high signal level in the time predetermined on the basis of the compared result of signals levels in the samples of the first communication data and the second communication data at the same time is measured, the first communication data or second communication data having more samples the high signal level within the predetermined time are discriminated as communication data from callers, and the compressed data are recorded on the recording medium after a caller flag indicating the communication data from a caller are added thereto.
