PURPOSE: To make it possible to easy obtain address information even when doing narrow-track recording, such as land/groove recording and to decrease track offsets. CONSTITUTION: Prepits 82 are arranged evenly on the extensions of the boundary parts between groove parts and inter-groove parts and on both sides of the center lines of the groove parts and the inter-groove parts of the optical recording medium having the groove parts and the inter-groove parts on a substrate. In addition, the prepits 82 are so arranged as not to exist simultaneously on both sides of the same places of the groove parts and the inter-groove parts.
