<p>A medium for detecting “VanA and VanB vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE)” whereby “VanA and VanB VRE”, which are clinically important among VRE, can be selectively grown; and a method of selectively detecting “VanA and VanB VRE” from test bacteria or test materials by using the above medium. Namely, a medium for detecting “VanA and VanB VRE” prepared by adding vancomyin, D-cycloserine and D-lactic acid to medium components wherein enterococci can be grown; and method of selectively detecting “VanA and VanB VRE” from test bacteria or test materials by using the above medium. It is preferable to add from 32 to 256 μg/ml of vancomycin, from 1 to 64 μg/ml of D-cycloserine and from 0.025 to 0.8 mol/l of sodium DL-lactate.</p> |
