The invention relates to an electrochemically activable layer or film for us e in electrochemical components. Said layer or film comprises a textile fabric and a substance which is located at least in the intermediate spaces in said textile fabric, consisting of at least one matrix containing or consisting o f an organic polymer, precursors thereof or prepolymers thereof and an electrochemically activable inorganic material which is insoluble in the matrix, in the form of a solid substance. The invention also relates to layered composites and to rechargeable electrochemical cells which are constructed with layers or films of this type, and to a number of methods fo r producing said layers or films.
