MONITORING AND REJECTION SYSTEM AND APPARATUS

A monitoring system checks for correct application of adhesive tracks (6) to e.g. the flap (2) of a cardboard blank (1) on a conveyor system. It includes sensors (14, 15) for detecting the position of the blank (1), and a central controller (18) for triggering a camera (16) to take one or more images of the blank (1) at suitable times after the blank (1) is detected, e.g. using the output of an encoder (17). The images may be taken at the expected start, middle and end of the tracks (6), and are analysed by the controller (8) to check for correct application of the tracks (6). The controller (8) and sensors (14, 15) can also be used to initially set the dimensions of the blank (1), and the controller (8) can also track a failed blank (1) and reject it later in the conveyor system.
