A gearbox (7) fits between axles (3,4) and a compressor (6). A fuel cell system (2) has a gas generation system. Units needed for starting the gas generation system and the fuel cell system have a direct mechanical link to the axles. Several compressors have a mechanical link to the axles. A mechanical link (5) has a drive shaft (5a) connected to the axles and a drive shaft (5b) connected to the compressor. The fuel cell system has a battery for starting it.
