The stencil with the negative of the stamp image is divided into at least two stamp image regions which are then brought into contact with the surface on which the image is to be stamped. The stamp image region imprints left on the surface have at least one distinguishable imprint quality difference. An Independent claim is also included for the stamp, which produces two or more image region imprints with at least one imprint quality difference which can be discerned with the naked eye or using technical equipment.
