The motor (4) and weeding tool (3) are mounted on a pivot or eccentric shaft (30) which lies eccentric to the tool shaft (1) or motor output shaft (5). The positions of the motor and weeding tool can be adjusted relative to the machine casing (9). The machine is used to mechanically remove weeds from hard surfaces (7) such as roads, streets, squares or gutters and comprises a mobile casing with at least one weeding tool rotating about a substantially vertical shaft. During operation, the tool shaft is connected to the motor output shaft, preferably forming a straight extension of the output shaft.
