<p>The invention aims at providing novel organic compounds absorbing visible rays to thereby widen the latitude of photosensitizers usable in the preparation of photo- polymerizable compositions, and the aim can be attained by coumarin compounds having specific structures, light absorbers and fluorescent materials, containing the coumarin compounds, and a process for the preparation of the coumarin compounds through the step of reacting a phenol with a 1,3-diketone compound. The coumarin compounds include those represented by the general formulae (1) and (2): (1) (2) wherein R1 to R8 are each independently hydrogen or a suitable substituent; and Z1 and Z2 are each an optionally substituted four- to eight-membered ring which may contain a heteroatom.</p> |
