The cylindrical exterior of the bushing has a collar sector of larger section than the adjoining sector which in turn is grooved (30,31) along its longitudinal axis (22). The second smaller section sector specified is adjoined by a third relatively smaller section sector. The grooves (30,31) are in the form of knurls and the inside thread (21) of the tapped bushing (13) extends from near the first sector specified over the open parts of the bushing entry passage (20). The thread itself adjoins a second passage (20) sector which is of larger diameter than the outside diameter of the thread. When joining plastics components or parts the bushing is secured by a headed screw with plastics parts (4,5) making up the bushing passage (20) opening length. The bushing endface (35) runs across axis (22) such that the screw head (15) bears via surface (16) on the end face (35) and the bearing surface (12) of plastics part (5).
