<p>A fiber/rubber composite which is suitable for use as, e.g., a belt in various industrial fields. It comprises fibers and a rubber tenaciously adherent thereto, undergoes no decrease in adhesive strength between the fibers and the rubber even when used at a high temperature for long, and has excellent wearing resistance. Also provided are rubber-impregnated fibers (I) which comprise fibers and, adherent thereto, a rubber ingredient (a) comprising at least 30 wt.% carboxylated nitrile rubber (a-1) containing carboxy groups in an amount of 1x10-3 to 5x10-1 mole equivalents per 100g, an iodine value of 100 or lower, and a content of units derived from an α,ß-ethylenically unsaturated nitrile monomer of 10 to 60 wt.%, a vulcanizer (b), and a divalent-metal compound (c). The fiber/rubber composite is obtained by superposing a rubber base (II) comprising a rubber vulcanizable with the vulcanizer (b) on the rubber-impregnated fibers (I) and vulcanizing the assemblage.</p> |
