The present invention includes a primary retainer pin (38) having an internal secondary retainer pin (40) operable to couple the primary retainer pin (38) with an adapter (30) for use with excavation equipment components. A removable tooth (33) having first (46) and second tooth (48) sides is coupled with the adapter and at least partially covers the first adapter end (34). A central portion of the adapter defines an elongate slot (44) which extends from a first adapter side (54) to a second adapter side (55). First (46) and second (48) tooth sides include first (53) and second (52) openings, respectively, configured such that the first (52) and second (53) openings are aligned with an imaginary longitudinal axis (I) of the elongate slot (44) while the removable tooth (33) is coupled with the adapter (30). The primary retainer pin (38) extends at least partially through the first (52) and second (53) openings, and the elongate slot (44), to couple the removable tooth (33) and the adapter (30). The secondary retainer pin (40) engages the adapter (30), adjacent a recessed cavity (45) which extends from the elongate slot (44), to limit movement of the primary retainer pin (38) along the imaginary longitudinal axis (I).
